Per Capita Consumption 2013
Population growth and disposable incomes as generally accepted major factors for future textile consumption will be subject to decisive changes. A slowing momentum in the both variables is expected for countries and regions with at present above average textile demand. Moreover, the often underestimated and neglected volume of worn clothing and articles at present more than 4 million tonnes should be integrated in considerations about the future textile demand. It represents majority of textile consumption in a number of countries.
The new study published by The Fiber Year GmbH analyzes 115 countries and shows national per capita consumption for the period 2005 to 2012 including a forecast for the year 2020. This new service complements the textile yearbook “The Fiber Year 2013”. The full report will be published second half of October. Alternatively, single chapters on various regions can be ordered as well.
