The Fiber Year 2026
17. July 2026The 12th edition has been released in September with some improvements over last year’s issue.

The content comprises top-20 industries which jointly account for 95% of world fabrics output.

The target of this report is to enhance transparency at the fabric making stage by classifying into major technologies such as knitting, weaving and nonwovens as well as unspun end-uses, waste and inventory changes.
Calculations for top-20 industries result in slightly slower dynamics in relation to the expansion at upstream industry. All three technologies succeeded to expand their volumes in the second consecutive year. However, pace of manufacturing growth is projected faster than demand at retail stage. Consequentially, stockpiling has been noticed across the textile value chain.
The structure of industry’s analyses starts with a quick survey of available fiber material, calculated fabrics production and trade as well as latest textile and apparel trade figures.

The development of production during quota-free period is visualized together with a table including projected unspun application volumes, processing waste and inventory changes.

Structural changes at fabric making stage between the first year of quota abolishment and 2025 are shown in the charts. It sheds light on available fiber material, fabric production volumes, trade and the projected fabric use.

The weight of different technologies is finally summarized.
