The entire processing business has witnessed a moderate increase in dynamics that clearly remained below the long-term average. Knitting operations, covering more than 50% market share since Global Financial Crisis, advanced less than 1% whereas manufacturing of woven fabrics succeeded to expand at a more than 2% rate. Nonwovens saw gains in fiber-based types while spunlaids kept on declining in their third consecutive year.
From the group of 20 analyzed industries, responsible for about 94% of global fiber and yarn processing, above-average growth occurred in PR China, India, Mexico and Sri Lanka. The remaining businesses suffered from losses with double-digit contractions in Germany and Taiwan.
